L.O.V.E
It was her wedding anniversary.
This day has been the day of Jubilation ever since.
She woke up to his smile, crooked yet too warm to ignore. That's what Love meant to her, Waking up to his smile.
The smile that could make her forget about everything.
The smile that could leave her entire world stranded.
The smile that signifies how much she means to him.
The smile that gives warmth in days when there is no ray of hope.
The smile to which she fell in love.
The smile to which she could fall in love all over again.
His Smile summarized her Happiness.
She looked at the huge stack that lay safe inside her safe and her mind slipped into the memory-track
It was an Album. She pulled it out off her safe and sat on her bed.
He was looking at her.
Her Fingers ran over the cover of the album that read
'The LifeLine'.Her 'Gloss-less' lips twisted into a smile.
She Looked at him as she ruffled through its pages.
The page Number read '54'.
Her nails are no longer manicured and her face no longer looks immaculate.
She doesn't have that upright structure nor her eyes are kohl- painted.
Nobody calls her beautiful nor is she Aww-ed at.
But,she still looks like a Moon through his eyes.
It has been 54 years. Fifty-Four,since they started celebrating love.
He would say, "Phew! Yet another year. Don't get trapped, my Kids. Marriage and women! You should be a legend to handle it." And she would give him a stern look.
Their anniversary starts with this every year.
"Tring. Tring. Tring. Tring"
The Landline phone rang breaking her thought train.
It was her daughter. No! Her Daughters on a conference call , "Ma, Happy Anniversary!", they wished her. After a bit of a chit-chat, she hung up and went back to her bedroom."This day used to be different!", She exclaimed to her husband.
He smiled at her.
"Don't smile, Kanna! Remember the times when we used to take family pictures on this day to preserve it in our Album, play a few games, cook food together and celebrate it like a festival ." She started complaining."Our kids have grown up. Not just our kids even our Grand-children have."
She Rambled on and on , without bothering about him.
That's how she have always been.
Well, atleast that's how Kanna would describe her.
She, The Independent woman.
He, The man who believed in her.
It all started 54 years ago. They fell in love with each other.
L.O.V.E was a sin back then. They went for it.Yeah,The heart wants what it wants.
It wasn't a "I Do - I Do" kind of love, rather the one where u fall down but pick each other up.
It wasn't the love that's potrayed in fairytales, she wasn't a princess and he wasn't a prince.
But there have always been a "Happily- Ever-After" when the day ends.
They fought. A Lot.But, she wouldn't forget to prepare his dinner.
They didn't bunk colleges to roam around, rather got married and studied to raise their family.
She , A Headmistress.
He, A doctor.
They pursued their career. Climbed up the ladder of life.
They did fall. Not once, but a lot many times. But, they never failed to pick each other up. There have been missing rungs too, but they learnt to jump. Together.
Extended their family with two beautiful daughters and strived hard to bring them up .
They loved each other with every fleeting moment.
These days, Love is so underrated.
Utter 'I Love You' and that means you're in a relationship.
Commitment is a compulsion , now.
However, She have never said those "Three words" to him , nor he. But, love is a feeling.
She Skimmed through the years , the pages of the album.
There was love. There was a gleam in their eyes.
The passionate couple became the responsible parents.
Then, they loved their kids more than each other.Dedicated their entire life for upbringing the girls.
Years went by.
They found new love. Their Grand children.
They did the long distance relationship to take care of the little ones.
Funny , ain't it!? Now, it's back to phase - One.
The gleam has returned.
She sat there wondering how years have passed but nothing have changed. But,she did miss one thing. The Candies.
She loved 'Peanut-candies'. He would get a pack of them on their anniversary. It was like a tradition.
She looked at him and asked , " Where are my Candies, Kanna!?"
He smiled at her. From the Glass frame.
They never believed in "Until Death do us apart".
Because, Nothing can seize their love for each other.
Not even death.
Now, she has him to herself, but as a picture.
